Buildings are designed and constructed for many parameters, however, buildings often do not perform as anticipated, and age, construction or design deficiencies can lead to failure of components, systems, or intended use. These problems may reduce the performance of the building, cause damage to its features, or create hazardous conditions that could culminate in structural failures or unhealthy environments.
Far too often, construction deficiencies arise because of “cut corners” or unforeseen and unaddressed design issues. When these problems arise, Berman & Wright assists in resolution of the issues, in whatever form that may take. Our core disciplines provide a wide range of services including project feasibility and needs analysis, schematic/design development, construction documentation, and contract administration.
Berman & Wright understands and utilizes the practical application and regulations of land use laws to ensure proper safety, public welfare, environmental quality/conservation, and space allocations. By ensuring that developed lands are safe from fire, flood, and other natural disasters, Land Use Law promotes the general welfare of communities, establishes appropriate population densities and transportation routes, as well as the diversity of agricultural, residential, recreation, commercial, and industrial areas.
In spite of careful steps to avoid it, construction defect conflicts tend to lead to litigation. If the results of our client’s diagnostic evaluations and findings are unable to culminate in a negotiated agreement, Berman & Wright’s education, experience, and proficiency, position our staff as extremely effective experts in the construction field. Our knowledge of proper design standards, construction industry practices, construction cost estimating, construction documentation, and contract language and terminology qualifies our consultants as among the best Expert Witnesses. Berman & Wright has worked closely with attorneys, litigants, and the courts in analyzing the myriad of conflicting documents in order to isolate the issues, identify the impacts, and establish entitlement.
We offer solid experience in the methods of new construction and appropriate techniques for the reuse and rehabilitation of existing buildings to incorporate new systems and technology. This includes AutoCAD documentation and 3D visualization to deliver the most accurate representation and long-term value to clients.
Our building experience includes public, educational, and corporate facilities; residential design from single-family homes to large-scale multi-family housing; retail and mixed-use facilities; health care and interior architecture; and building adaptive reuse and façade rehabilitation.
