The Association for Energy Affordability is a leading provider of technical services for energy efficiency in buildings.
Technical Services. AEA’s services include energy audits, modeling, project work scope and specification development, construction management, benchmarking and energy usage monitoring, retro-commissioning, and green building design services for high performance new construction. We offer Green Physical Needs Assessments for publicly assisted housing. AEA serves residential and commercial properties, but specializes in delivering energy efficiency to multifamily properties, including affordable housing. AEA is a mission-driven, not-for-profit corporation with offices in New York, California, and Illinois.
Efficiency Programs. AEA provides program design and implementation services for government and utility-funded energy efficiency programs. We are a NYSERDA Multifamily Performance Program Partner for both existing buildings and new construction. We are the Implementation Contractor for Con Edison’s Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program, providing incentives for common area energy upgrades and free in-unit measures for buildings with 5-75 units. We offer benchmarking, investment grade energy audits, and retro-commissioning services to assist NYC covered buildings to comply with Local Laws 84 sand 87.
Industry certifications. A long-standing Building Performance Institute affiliate and test center, AEA offers over 50 courses for building performance professionals, energy efficiency technical and program staff, installers, weatherization workers, and green job seekers. Many of these courses prepare trainees for key industry certifications from BPI, the Air Barrier Association of America, US Green Building Council, PassivHaus Institut and others. AEA’s energy auditor training course is accredited by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council.
